On this day, 28years ago, “The Dance,” Garth Brooks‘
signature song, hits No. 1 on the Billboard country chart and stays
there for 3 weeks. It was the final single from his album, Garth Brooks, and was released in April 1990.
The video features several American icons who, in Brooks’ eyes, died for a dream, like Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, Lane Frost and country music icon, Keith Whitley.
The video was awarded “Video of the Year” at the 1990 Academy of
Country Music Awards and is widely regarded of one of the greatest
country music videos of all-time.
