Today's Verse:

                ( Matthew 5:3 )

True Happiness

"Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!"

Entrance Hymn:

Let Us Pray

Recite The Doxology:

Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.  Amen.

Recite The Act of Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest in all my sins, not only because of the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but because they offended You, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, do penance, and amend my life.  Amen.

Recite The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty. Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, and on the third day he rose again in ful- fillment of the scriptures. He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right side of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.   Amen.

The 1st Reading:

              ( Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46 )

Laws Concerning Skin Diseases

The Lord gave Moses and Aaron these regulations. If any of you have a sore on your skin or a boil or an inflamation which could develop into a dreaded skin disease, you shall be brought to the Aaronite priest.
The priest shall pronounce you unclean, because of the dreaded skin disease on your head.
If you have a dreaded skin disease, you must wear torn clothes, leave your hair uncombed, cover the lower part of your face, and call out, "Unclean, unclean!" You remain unclean as long as you have the disease, and you must live outside the camp, away from others.

Alternate 1st Reading:

              ( Psalm 32:1-2, 5, 11 )

Confession and Forgiveness

Happy are those whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongs are pardoned. Happy is the one whom the Lord does not accuse of doing wrong and who is free from all deceit.
Then I confessed my sins to you; I did not conceal my wrong-doings. I decided to confess them to you, and you forgave all my sins.
You that are righteous, be glad and rejoice because of what the Lord has done. You that obey him, shout for joy!

The 2nd Reading:

              ( 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1 )

Warning against Idols

Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God's glory. Live in such a way as to cause no trouble either to Jews or Gentiles or to the church of God. Just do as I do; I try to please everyone in all that I do, not thinking of my own good, but of the good of all, so that they might be saved.
Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

Today's Gospel According to:

                   ( Mark 1:40-45 )

Jesus Heals a Man

A man suffering from a dreaded skin disease came to Jesus, knelt down, and begged him for help. "If you want to," he said, "you can make me clean."
Jesus was filled with pity, and reached out and touched him. "I do want to," he answered. "Be clean!" At once the disease left the man, and he was clean. Then Jesus spoke sternly to him and sent him away at once, after saying to him, "Listen, don't tell anyone about this. But go straight to the priest and let him examine you; then in order to prove to everyone that you are cured, offer the sacrifice that Moses ordered.
But the man went away and began to spread the news every-where. Indeed, he talked so much that Jesus could not go into town publicly. Instead, he stayed out in lonely places, and people came to him from everywhere.

This is the word of the Lord

An Interpretation of Today's Readings & Gospel
( By Fr. Kenneth E. Grabner, C.S.C. )

In the days when there were no trains or cars, people trudged along for miles to find Jesus. They were probably motivated by various reasons, but they all shared one thing - the desire to be in his presence. Without this desire, no one would have sought him. No one would have listened to his words. No one would have felt his love.
Desire pushes us to seek a relationship with God in our daily life. God is always present in our hearts. God is always present in the world that is swirling all around us. But without desire, we'll never take time to become aware of this loving presence that pene-trates all things. We can trust God to help us here because desire for the divine presence is a life-changing gift that God longs for us to have. We only have to ask.
Lord, may all my brothers and sisters rejoice in this gift, and may we all share together in its fruits.

Recite: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it tis in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but, deliver us from evil.  Amen.

May the Peace of the Lord be with You

Recessional Song:

The Following is a Contribution From One
 of the "Country Chapel" Followers:

Believe me He works in mysterious ways...it just happened to me.
Highly Recommended:
Read this in silence. Thank you Lord for everything you've done for me. Forgive me for all of my sins as I forgive those who sinned against me. Heal me from the hurt of my past and present. I love You and need You. Cover me, my family, my friends, my life, and my endeavors and enterprises with Your most precious and holy blood. Give me Your dreams, Lord. Bless and protect everyone who seeks You, needs You, and believes in You.
When you love God and you are not ashamed of Him, good things happen in your life. Show your love for him! Copy and paste this on your wall for a day..
Can I get an Amen? Amen!
