Reba McEntire performs during CMA 2017 Country Christmas at The Grand Ole Opry on Nov. 14, 2017 in Nashville
Who run the fast food world? Girls
KFC released a video Thursday (Jan. 25) of its first-ever female
celebrity suiting up for the role of the iconic Colonel Harland
Sanders—and country star Reba McEntire got the honor.
McEntire, who grew up in Oklahoma, was originally approached for the role in December. "I said 'Holy smokes!'," she told The Associated Press. "KFC has been a part of my life forever."
The
singer appears in the commercial for the fried chicken chain’s new
Smoky Mountain BBQ flavor. McEntire pokes fun in the ad, dressed up in a
gray wig and mustache like Colonel Sanders. She sings to an audience
while onstage in a white sequined suit, insisting that she is not a
woman, but the actual KFC founder himself.
“Absolutely nothing’s
changed,” she croons. “Oh, please ignore any likeness to famous country
singers. I’m definitely not a woman.”
Watch the video below and catch the ad on TV starting January 28
