LANCO's 'Story' Adds First No. 1 Chapter on Country Airplay

Lanco perform live in the Today studio on April 17, 2017

In its 38th frame, LANCO earns its first No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart (dated Dec. 2) as "Greatest Love Story" increases 9 percent to 43.8 million audience impressions in the tracking week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music.
LANCO – Brandon Lancaster, Chandler Baldwin, Jared Hampton, Tripp Howell and Eric Steedly – leads in its second Country Airplay appearance, following "Long Live Tonight," which peaked at No. 32 (Oct. 1, 2016).
"Story" was solo-written by Lancaster and is the first such No. 1 since Little Big Town's "Better Man," written by Taylor Swift. That hit, which won for song of the year at the 2017 Country Music Association Awards (Nov. 8), topped Country Airplay for two weeks in March.
Prior to "Better Man," the last Country Airplay leader by a single author was Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind," which, penned by Americana/country singer-songwriter Lori McKenna, topped the list dated June 25, 2016. That ballad became the first such No. 1 in more than four years, since Swift's self-written "Ours" (March 31, 2012), which ended a drought for such hits dating to Swift's "Sparks Fly" (Nov. 26, 2011). The last Country Airplay leader written by one male? "Story" is the first since Blake Shelton's "God Gave Me You," originally a Christian hit for its writer, Dave Barnes; Shelton's version ruled Country Airplay for three weeks beginning Oct. 29, 2011.

On Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data, "Story" pushes to a new best (4-3). Luke Combs leads the list for a second week with "When It Rains It Pours."

NEW TOP 10s Chris Janson collects his second Hot Country Songs top 10, as "Fix a Drink" steps 12-10. The song gains by 11 percent to 43.8 million impressions and rises 3-2 on Country Airplay. Janson first hit the Hot Country Songs 10 with the No. 2-peaking "Buy Me a Boat" in 2015.
Plus, Brett Young achieves his third Country Airplay top 10 with "Like I Loved You," which hops 12-10 (28.7 million, up 9 percent).
THAT'S A RAP On Top Country Albums, country rapper Upchurch (Ryan Edward Upchurch) earns his first top 10 and best sales week, as King of Dixie enters at No. 10, earning 10,000 equivalent units in its opening week, with 8,000 in traditional sales.
Dixie is Upchurch's seventh Top Country Albums appearance. He previously reached a No. 22 best with 2016's Chicken Willie (3,000 sold in its debut week). His notched his prior top sales week with Son of the South in May (4,000).
