Craig Campbell Performs Garth Brooks' 'Learning to Live Again'
Craig Campbell performs Garth Brooks' "Learning to Live Again"
One can’t listen to the music of Craig Campbell
and not be aware of how much traditional country has played in an
influence of the singer’s music -- which has included 2010s hits such as
“Outta My Head” and “Keep Them Kisses Comin.” The singer re-connects
with his roots in this Billboard-exclusive edition of Opry Replay, as he performs a hit from Garth Brooks’s storied career, "Learning to Live Again."
“I’m
a big fan of the early '90s country music," he says before
performing. "Lots of times, I will have my iPhone on shuffle, and I’m
always pleasantly surprised when I hear certain songs, and I heard this
one on the way to town tonight."
Released as the third single from his nine million-selling disc The Chase in
January 1993, the song peaked at No. 2 on the Country Songs chart,
becoming his 15th top 10 hit on that list. The success of the track was
one of many for recent Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Don Schlitz
-- who co-wrote the song with a Brooks favorite, Stephanie Davis, also
responsible for penning such other classic cuts for the singer as “We
Shall Be Free” (co-written with Kent Blazy and Pat Alger) and the
holiday gem “The Gift,” from 1992's Beyond The Season.
