'Rains' Reigns: Luke Combs Earns First No. 1 on Hot Country Songs Chart
Luke Combs
"When It Rains It Pours" rises to the top.
Luke Combs' "When It Rains It Pours" ascends 2-1 on Billboard's
Hot Country Songs chart (dated Nov. 25), marking his first leader on
the ranking, which blends streaming, airplay and sales data.
"Rains" is the second single from Combs' LP This One's for You,
which bowed atop the June 24 Top Country Albums chart with 43,000
equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Debut single
"Hurricane" peaked at No. 3 on Hot Country Songs and led Country Airplay
for two weeks beginning May 27.
"Rains" rises by 6 percent to 9.6
million U.S. streams, as it holds at its No. 2 peak on Country
Streaming Songs. On Country Airplay, where it ruled for two weeks
beginning Nov. 4, it remains in the top five (2-4; down 9 percent to
39.9 million in audience). It drops 3-8 on Country Digital Song Sales
but gains by 6 percent to 14,000 sold.
"Rains" dethrones Kane Brown's
"What Ifs," featuring Lauren Alaina, after five weeks atop Hot Country
Songs. Before that, Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" ruled for a
record 34 weeks, beginning Feb. 25. Only one other title has ascended to
No. 1 on Hot Country Songs in 2017: Little Big Town's "Better Man,"
which, written by Taylor Swift, won song of the year honors at the
Country Music Association Awards Nov. 8.
