"Beloved"

Today's Verse:

               ( Matthew 5:44 )

Love for Enemies

"But now I tell you; love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

 Entrance Hymn:

Let Us Pray

Recite The Doxology:

Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.  Amen.

Recite The Act of Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest in all my sins, not only because of the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but because they offended You, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, do penance, and amend my life.  Amen.

Recite The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty. Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, and on the third day he rose again in ful- fillment of the scriptures. He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right side of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.   Amen.

The 1st Reading:

               ( Isaiah 45:1, 4-6 )

The Lord Appoints Cyrus

The Lord has chosen Cyrus to be king. He has appointed him to conquer nations; he sends him to strip kings of their power; the Lord will open the gates of cities for him. To Cyrus the Lord says, "I appoint you to help my servant Israel, the people I have chosen. I have given you great honor, although you do not know me." " I am the Lord; there is no other god. I will give you the strength you need, although you do not know me. I do this so that everyone from one end of the world to the other may know that I am the Lord and that there is no other god.

Alternate 1st Reading:

                ( Psalm 96:1, 3-5, 7-10 )

God the Supreme King

Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing to the Lord all the world! Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples.
The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; he is to be hon-ored more than all the other gods. The gods of all other nations are only idols, but the Lord created the heavens.
Praise the Lord, all people on earth; praise his glory might. Praise the Lord's glorious name; bring an offering and come into his Temple. Bow down before the Holy One when he appears; tremble before him, all the earth!
Say to all the nations, "The Lord is king! The earth is set firmly in place and cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with justice."

The 2nd Reading:

              ( 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5 )

From Paul, Silas, and Timothy - To the people of the church in Thessalonica, who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be yours.

The Life and Faith of the Thessalonians

We always thank God for you all and always mention you in our prayers. For we remember before our God and Father how you put your faith into practice, how your love made you work so hard, and how your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ is firm. Our friends, we know that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own. For we brought the Good News to you, not with words only, but also with power and the Holy Spirit, and with complete conviction of its truth. You know how we lived when we were with you; it was for your own good.

Today's Gospel According to:

           ( Matthew 22:15-21 )

The Question About Paying Taxes

The Pharisees went off and made a plan to trap Jesus with ques-tions. Then they sent to him some of their disciples and some mem-bers of Herod's party. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you will tell the truth. You teach the truth about God's will for people, with-out worrying about what others think, because you pay no attention to anyone's status. Tell us, then, what do you think? Is it against our Law to pay taxes to the Roman Emperor, or not?"
Jesus, however, was aware of their evil plan, and so he said, "You hypocrites! Why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin for paying the tax!"
They brought him the coin, and he asked them, "Whose face and name are these?"
      The Emperor's," they answered.
So Jesus said to them, "Well, then, pay to the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and pay to God what belongs to God."

An Interpretation of Today's Readings & Gospel
( By Steve Givens )

I have to admit, I get a little excited on the rare occasion when someone I have never met recognizes my name based on something I have done or written. "Are you the guy who writes for Living Faith?" gives me a little charge of joy. It's nice to be noticed and known, isn't it?
But far beyond this minute and fleeting moment of "fame" is the deep and lasting joy that comes from knowing that we are all known by name by the Creator of the great diversity of the earth. Camouflaged and unseen as we think we are by the beauty and complexity of everything around us, God, nevertheless, reaches out and finds us, taps us on our shoulders and whispers, "I know you. You are mine. And you have a title forever. Beloved."
Lord, let me hear your voice and sense your touch today.

This is the word of the Lord

Recite: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it tis in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but, deliver us from evil.  Amen.

May the Peace of the Lord be with You

Recessional Song:

The Following is a Contribution From One
 of the "Country Chapel" Followers:

Believe me He works in mysterious ways...it just happened to me.
Highly Recommended:
Read this in silence. Thank you Lord for everything you've done for me. Forgive me for all of my sins as I forgive those who sinned against me. Heal me from the hurt of my past and present. I love You and need You. Cover me, my family, my friends, my life, and my endeavors and enterprises with Your most precious and holy blood. Give me Your dreams, Lord. Bless and protect everyone who seeks You, needs You, and believes in You.
When you love God and you are not ashamed of Him, good things happen in your life. Show your love for him! Copy and paste this on your wall for a day..
Can I get an Amen? Amen!
