Easter Sunday
"Trust in the Hidden"

Today's Verse:
                ( Luke 2:52 )
The Boy Jesus in the Temple
Jesus grew both in body and in wisdom, gaining favor with God and people.

 Entrance Hymn:

Recite:   "The Apostles Creed"

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, and on the third day he arose from the dead and ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen.

"Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just"

The 1st Reading:

                  ( Acts 10:34, 37-43 )

Peter's Speech

Peter began to speak; "I now realize that it is true that God treats everyone on the same basis.
You know of the great event that took place throughout the land of Israel, beginning in Galilee after John preached his message of baptism. You know about Jesus of Nazareth and how God poured out on him the Holy Spirit and power. He went everywhere doing good and healing all who were under the power of the Devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of everything that he did in the land of Israel and Jerusalem. Then they put him to death by nailing him to a cross. But God raised him from death three days later and caused him to appear, not to everyone, but only to the witnesses that God had already chosen, that is, to us who ate and drank with him after he rose from death. And he commanded us to preach the gospel to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God has appointed judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets spoke about him, saying that all who believe in him will have their sins forgiven through the power of his name.

Alternate 1st Reading:

              ( Psalm 118:1-2, 16-17, 22-23 )

A Prayer of Thanks for Victory

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good, and his love is eternal. Let the people of Israel say, "His love is eternal."
"His power has brought us victory - his mighty power in battle!" I will not die; instead, I will live and proclaim what the Lord has done.
The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all. This was done by the Lord; what a wonderful sight it is!

The 2nd Reading:

               ( Colossians 3:1-4 )

Dying and Living with Christ

You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Your real life is Christ and when he appears, then you too will appear with him and share his glory!

Today's Gospel According to:

                 ( John 20:1-9 )

 The Empty Tomb

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Mag- dalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the entrance. She went running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"
Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb. The two of them were running, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and saw the linen cloths, but did not go in. Behind him came Simon Peter, and went straight into the tomb. He saw linen cloths lying there and the cloth which had been around Jesus' head. It was not lying with the linen cloths but was rolled up by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in; he saw and believed. (They still did not understand the scripture which said that he must rise from death.)

This is the word of the Lord.

An Interpretation of Today's Readings & Gospel
( By Mark Neilsen )

Faced with an important decision, I try to figure out what God is asking of me. When a dilemma seems to be without a solution, I wonder how it will all end. The experience of any loss sets me on a search for meaning - usually with mixed results.
I know Christians are not the only ones to confort life's mysteries. We are all mysteries to ourselves, a complex array of motives, desires, hopes and fears. Science no sooner solves one question than several more pop up in its place.
But hidden with Christ in God, we are drawn onward by grace - yet another mystery. Our lives, including much of the good we do, are indeed hidden, just as Jesus was in the tomb before the glory of Easter morning. And that's what we look forward to.
Lord, grant me trust in you as I face the unknown.

Recite: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it tis in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but, deliver us from evil.  Amen.

May the Peace of the Lord be with You

Recessional Song:

Believe me He works in mysterious ways...it just happened to me.
Highly Recommended:
Read this in silence. Thank you Lord for everything you've done for me. Forgive me for all of my sins as I forgive those who sinned against me. Heal me from the hurt of my past and present. I love You and need You. Cover me, my family, my friends, my life, and my endeavors and enterprises with Your most precious and holy blood. Give me Your dreams, Lord. Bless and protect everyone who seeks You, needs You, and believes in You.
When you love God and you are not ashamed of Him, good things happen in your life. Show your love for him! Copy and paste this on your wall for a day..
Can I get an Amen? Amen!
