Today's Verse:

             ( John 14:3 )

Jesus the Way to the Father

Jesus said, "And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you myself, so that you will be where I am."

Entrance Hymn:

Let Us Pray

Recite The Doxology:

Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.  Amen.

Recite The Act of Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest in all my sins, not only because of the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but because they offended You, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, do penance, and amend my life.  Amen.

Recite The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty. Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, and on the third day he rose again in ful- fillment of the scriptures. He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right side of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.   Amen.

The 1st Reading:

           ( Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40 )

Given by Moses to the people:
Warning against Idolatry

"Search the past, the time before you were born, all the way back to the time when God created human beings on the earth. Search the entire earth. Has anything as great as this ever happened before? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Have any people ever lived after hearing a god speak to them from a fire, as you have? Has any god ever dared to go and take a people from another nation and make them his own, as the Lord your God did for you in Egypt? Before your very eyes He used His great power and strength; He brought plagues and war, worked miracles and wonders, and caused terrifying things to happen."
"So remember today and never forget: the Lord is God in heaven and on earth. There is no other god. Obey all His laws that I have given you today, and all will go well with you and your descendants. You will continue to live in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to be yours forever."

Alternate 1st Reading:

           ( Psalm 33:4-6, 9, 18-20, 22 )

A Cry of Anguish and a Song of Praise

Our ancestors put their trust in you; they trusted you, and you saved them. They called to you and escaped from danger; they trusted you and were not disappointed.
But I am no longer a human being; I am a worm, despised and scorned by everyone!
It was you who brought me safely through birth, and when I was a baby, you kept me safe.
They gamble for my clothes and divide them among themselves.
O Lord, don't stay away from me! Come quickly to my rescue! Save me from the sword; save my life from these dogs.
I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their assembly.

The 2nd Reading:

              ( Romans 8:14-17 )

Life in the Spirit

Those who are led by God's Spirit are God's children. For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God's children, and by the Spirit's power we cry out to God, "Father! my Father!" God's Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God's chil-dren. Since we are His children, we will possess the blessings He keeps for His people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ's suffering, we will also share his glory.

Today's Gospel According to:

              ( Matthew 28:16-20 )

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

The eleven disciples went to the hill in Galilee where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him, even though some of them doubted. Jesus drew near and said to them, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

This is the word of the Lord

An Interpretation of Today's Readings & Gospel
( By Sr. Julia Walsh, F.S.P.A. )

I am not sure when it first clicked in me that the point of Christian life is union with God - that somehow God's nature of self -giving, rational oneness, needed to be expressed in my discipleship. Amazingly, this means that God's inner Three-in-One nature could become revealed through my cooperation with love. Whenever this re-framing occurred for me, it was significant - a pure grace that put me in touch with the incredible mystery of the Trinity.
I don't understand it, but I experience it. God's Triune goodness molds me each time I bow, submit and let the mystery move through me. Once I do, I am often completely amazed by the beauty revealed - I become kinder, more creative, more loving. In such times of graced union, I am getting a taste of what it means to be an heir of Christ, to inherit God's incredible characteristics.

Recite: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it tis in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but, deliver us from evil.  Amen.

May the Peace of the Lord be with You
