Let Us Pray to "Our Heavenly Mother"
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

Today's Verse:

              ( Matthew 18:11 )

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

"See that you don't despise any of these little ones. They're angels in heaven, I tell you, and are always in the presence of my Father in heaven."

Entrance Hymn:

The 1st Reading:

             ( Acts 6:1-7 )

The Seven Helpers

Some time later, as the number of disciples kept growing, there was a quarrel between the Greek-speaking Jews and the native Jews. The Greek-speaking Jews claimed that their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of funds. So the twelve apostles called the whole group of believers together and said, "It is not right for us to neglect the preaching of God's word in order to handle finances. So then, friends, choose seven men among you who are known to be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we will put them in charge of this matter. We ourselves, then, will give our full time to prayer and the work of preaching."
The whole group was pleased with the apostles proposal, so they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a Gentile from Antioch who had earlier been converted to Judaism. The group presented them to the apostles, who prayed and placed their hands on them.
And so the word of God continued to spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem grew larger and larger, and a great number of priests accepted the faith.

Alternate 1st Reading:
              ( Psalm 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19 )
A Song of Praise
All you that are righteous, shout for joy for what the Lord has done; praise him, all you that obey him. Give thanks to the Lord with harps, sing to him with stringed instruments.
The words of the Lord are true, and all his works are depend- able. The Lord loves what is righteous and just; his constant love fills the earth.
The Lord watches over those who obey him, those who trust in his constant love. He saves them from death; he keeps them alive in times of famine.

The 2nd Reading:

           ( 1 Peter 2:4-9 )

The Living Stone and the Holy Nation

      Come to the Lord, the living stone rejected by people as worth- less but chosen by God as valuable. Come as living stones, and let yourselves be used in building the spiritual temple, where you will serve as holy priests to offer spiritual and acceptable sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ. For scripture says;
"I chose a valuable stone, which I am placing as the corner- stone in Zion; and whoever believes in him will never be disap-pointed."
      This stone is of great value for you that believe; but for those who do not believe;
"The stone the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all."
      And another scripture says,
"This is the stone that will make people stumble, the rock that will make them fall."
They stumbled because they did not believe in the word; such was God's will for them.
But you are the chosen race, the King's priests, the holy nation, God's own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his own marvelous light.

Today's Gospel According to:

              ( John 14:1-12 )

Jesus the Way to the Father

"Do not be worried and upset," Jesus told them, "Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am. You know the way that leads to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; so how can we know the way to get there?"
Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me. Now that you have known me," he said to them, "you will know my Father also, and from now on you know him and you have seen him."
Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father; that is all we need."
Jesus answered, "For a long time I have been with you all; yet you do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. Why, then, do you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe, Philip, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I have spoken to you," Jesus said to his disciples, "do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If not, believe because of the things I do. I am telling you the truth: those who believe in me will do what I do - yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father.

This is the word of the Lord.

An Interpretation of Today's Readings & Gospel
( By Fr. James McKams )

In the early twentieth century countless families migrated from Europe and other countries to the United States. Many fathers would come here first, leaving their wives and children behind in the old country. Then they would find a job and prepare a new home for their family. Some fathers would return for them, but others would send money to their family members so they could make the voyage on their own. It was their way of making the journey to a new land. In a similar way, Jesus told the apostles and the others of his faith family that he would go away and prepare a place for them so they could make their journey to a new life, in a new world. In our future, we cannot find our new home in heaven with a road map, a navigation chart or a flight plan. We find the way only through Jesus. He has gone before us, and he is the way to our eternal home.

Recite: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it tis in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but, deliver us from evil.  Amen.

May the Peace of the Lord be with You

Recessional Song:
